Trauma

Trauma

Trauma in orthopedics means injuries to your bones, muscles, or joints. It happens when you have a sudden accident or fall. This can result in broken bones, sprains (when ligaments stretch or tear), or strains (when muscles or tendons get injured).

Trauma can lead to pain, swelling, and difficulty moving the injured area. Sometimes, you might even see bruises or cuts on your skin. In severe cases, trauma might require surgery to fix broken bones or torn ligaments.

Treatment for trauma usually involves resting the injured area, applying ice to reduce swelling, and taking pain-relief medication. In some cases, you might need a cast or brace to support the injured part of your body while it heals. Physical therapy can also help you regain strength and movement after trauma.

Remember, if you ever experience a traumatic injury, it’s important to seek medical help right away. Ignoring trauma or trying to tough it out can lead to further complications and slower healing.
